Tea as one of the national potential commodities needs to get more attention. Australia, Netherlands, United States and UK are still the main destinations for tea exports for Indonesia. Although tea leaves remain the main demand in the international market, powdered tea is also exported to a number of countries such as the Netherlands, England, United States, and West Germany. Tea exports continued to increase in the following years.
The success of Javanero coffee in penetrating the international market and successfully gaining consumer trust in the international market caused Javanero to be requested to export black tea to Germany. Together with Tea and Quinine Research Center (PPTK) in Gambung, West Java, agreed to produce the best quality teas to meet international market demand.
